"Hardships never last long. There is always a way out. God is always there in the midst of every struggle."
My name is Manu Maso, and this is the story of how faith, perseverance, and God's guidance transformed the lives of my wife and me.
I come from Enga Province, Papua New Guinea, a place rich in culture, resilience, and strong family values. Growing up, I dreamed of building a successful future through education and hard work. Like many Papua New Guineans, I faced challenges that often seemed impossible to overcome, but I learned that every struggle carries a lesson and every setback prepares us for something greater.
My wife, Lavie Ken, also comes from Enga Province. She completed her Bachelor's Degree in Business Management with a specialization in Strategic Management and graduated in 2023. We celebrated her achievement with great hope, believing that employment opportunities would soon follow.
Unfortunately, that was not the case.
Months turned into years. Applications were submitted, interviews were attended, and expectations were repeatedly met with disappointment. For almost two years, Lavie remained unemployed. There were moments when uncertainty tested our patience and faith. Watching a qualified graduate wait for an opportunity was not easy.
At the same time, I was still pursuing my studies in Computer Science. University life came with many challenges. There were financial pressures, academic demands, and questions about what the future would hold after graduation. Yet I remained determined to finish what I had started.
In 2025, I successfully completed my degree and graduated. That achievement represented years of sacrifice, persistence, and trust in God's plan. Shortly afterward, I was blessed with an opportunity to serve as an ICT Teacher at Waigani Christian College. Teaching allowed me to share knowledge, mentor students, and contribute to the development of young Papua New Guineans.
As I continued to grow professionally, another opportunity opened. I was fortunate to begin a new chapter of my career with Deloitte. It was a significant milestone that reminded me that hard work, continuous learning, and faith can open doors when least expected.
While my career was progressing, Lavie continued waiting for her breakthrough.
Despite the delays, she never stopped believing. She remained positive, continued applying, and trusted that God's timing would be perfect.
Then, after nearly two years of waiting, the breakthrough finally arrived.
Lavie received an appointment with the Department of Works and Highways in Port Moresby. The news brought joy, relief, and gratitude. What seemed like a long season of waiting became a testimony of perseverance and faith rewarded.
Looking back, I realize that our journey was never just about finding employment or building careers. It was about learning patience, developing resilience, and trusting God even when circumstances did not make sense.
Today, my wife and I are living proof that delays do not mean denial. Rejection does not mean failure. Difficult seasons do not last forever.
Our story is a reminder to every student, graduate, and young professional in Papua New Guinea that success is not always immediate. Sometimes the road is longer than expected, but every step is preparing you for your future.
If you are currently struggling, searching for employment, pursuing your education, or facing challenges that seem overwhelming, do not give up. Keep believing. Keep working. Keep praying.
Because I have learned that when one door closes, God is preparing another. When hope seems distant, faith keeps us moving forward.
Today, my wife and I stand together, grateful for every challenge we faced because those challenges shaped our character and strengthened our faith.
Hardships never last long. There is always a way out. God is always there in the midst of every struggle.
Stay faithful. Stay patient. Stay focused. Your breakthrough is coming.
